SEO for Business Websites: A Practical 90-Day Roadmap

Search is still the front door for most B2B and service businesses. In SE Ranking’s 2025 analysis, organic search accounted for roughly 47% of all website traffic, and FirstPageSage’s click-through-rate data puts the first organic result at close to 40% of clicks against about 10% for the third. Rankings are not a vanity metric: position decides who gets the visit.

The good news is that SEO is a process, not a mystery. Here is a 90-day roadmap we use as a starting framework for business websites, whether you are in Nagpur, New York or anywhere in between.

Days 1–30: Fix the foundation

1. Audit crawlability and indexing

If Google cannot crawl and index a page, nothing else matters. Check your XML sitemap, robots.txt, canonical tags and Search Console’s Pages report for “Discovered – not indexed” and “Crawled – not indexed” patterns. Remove duplicate or thin URLs rather than leaving them for Google to sort out.

2. Pass Core Web Vitals

Google’s published “good” thresholds are Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of real visits (web.dev). Compress images, defer non-critical JavaScript and reserve space for images and embeds.

3. Make every page mobile-first

Google indexes the mobile version of your site. Mobile devices drove around 63% of global web traffic in 2025 (Statista), so a cramped or slow mobile layout costs both rankings and leads.

Days 31–60: Build the keyword and content map

4. Map keywords to intent

List the services you sell, then group the searches around each one by intent: learn (“what is…”), compare (“best… for…”) and buy (“… services in…”, “hire…”). Give each group exactly one primary page. Two pages chasing the same query dilute each other.

5. Rewrite titles, descriptions and headings

Google’s own SEO Starter Guide asks for unique, descriptive titles and meta descriptions on every page. Lead with the keyword, add the benefit, and keep titles around 50–60 characters so they are not truncated.

6. Publish people-first content

Google’s guidance on helpful content stresses original information, first-hand experience and a clear purpose for the visitor. Case studies, pricing explainers, comparison guides and honest “who this is not for” sections beat generic 500-word posts.

Days 61–90: Earn authority and measure

7. Strengthen internal links

Link every new article to the relevant service page with descriptive anchor text, and link service pages back to proof such as testimonials. This is the cheapest ranking lever you own.

8. Earn quality backlinks

Prioritise relevant, editorial links: industry directories, partner pages, guest expertise and original data worth citing. Avoid link schemes; they put the whole site at risk.

9. Track what matters

Set up Search Console and GA4 conversion events (form submits, calls, bookings). Review impressions, clicks and conversions by page group monthly. Expect early movement on long-tail terms within 2–3 months and competitive terms to take longer; anyone promising page one in 30 days is guessing.

How AI search changes the plan

AI-generated answers now appear for many informational queries, which makes clear structure, credible sources and structured data more valuable, not less. Pages that answer a question directly in the first paragraph, cite evidence and use FAQ markup are easier for both Google and AI systems to quote.

Frequently asked questions

How long does SEO take to work?

Most sites see measurable gains in three to six months, depending on competition, site health and publishing pace. SEO compounds: month twelve is usually far better than month three.

Do I need new content or fixes first?

Fix technical blockers first; new content on a site Google cannot crawl properly is wasted effort.
